Day 37: Moving in!
Today we moved into our new place. It's in a suburb called Ashburton, south-east of the CBD. There are shops only a minute walk away from our place so it's in a pretty good location and it's not too shabby around here too. It has a sort of Mt. Eden-esque feel about it but minus the Mt.
It was a very stressful day. Lots and lots of unpacking and moving and physical labour stuff. We had a bit of an issue with the movers because they were being dicks. Apparently their policy didn't include moving the boxes into the right rooms. In our time, we've never had this issue before and everything always gets taken to the correct place (and we've moved around quite a lot). Also, it was raining on and off and they didn't have mats and things to lay out on the carpet - surely for a moving company it's something they should all have. So there was lots of phone calls being made to track down the boss, which was a bit of a mission, but in the end we got what we wanted - and rightly so. I think this is where I get my stubbornness from. My Mum and Dad were not pleased and they weren't going to let up until they got what they had paid for and agreed to beforehand.
So all that trouble delayed the moving process and the sun was down by the time we finally moved everything in. This was a slight problem as our power hadn't been switched on yet. The power guy had come earlier in the morning when we weren't there but our gate was locked so he had no access to the power box. Dang! So by the end we were working in near darkness - our only light source coming from the mighty saviour - two iPhones.
All in all, a tiring, long day. The house is quite neat and tidy. It's the usual two stories, bedrooms upstairs sorta stuff - nothing too flash. The downstairs area seemed really big and spacious until all our stuff got moved in and now it looks medium sized. Not looking forward to tomorrow...
Peak: Strolling down the road about 20 metres to dinner at the local Chinese restaurant (the food wasn't spectacular but I loved how short the walk was)
Pit: Moooooving
