Day 31: Flatwarming

Tonight was Kate and Alice Courtenay's flatwarming. They're flatting in a place in Parkville, which is slightly north of North Melbourne. It's pretty close to town and in an ideal location for Kate to go to uni. I met Alice Bresnahan in town beforehand and we trammed together to the place. We were one of the first ones there! Also, when we got there Kate was upstairs and everyone thought she was out somewhere so we had to run the whole introductory process on our own for a little bit. On top of that, they forgot to tell us that it was a 70's themed party (thank goodness not too many people dressed up for it).

Most of the people there were in their 2nd year of study but were the age of 3rd years. Lots of small talk here and there. I'm starting to get tired of the small talk but I realise it's totally a necessity. Lots of people seemed to be studying commerce or politics at the party. Snore.

I had checked earlier in the day when the last train to get home was. So, I got to the station on time but to my horror I discovered that I'd actually taken note of the 'arrival' time at where I needed to GET TO and not when the train left. I had no choice but to call my dad up at 1.30am and ask him to come and get me. He came with mum and they didn't seem to mind, which was great. There was a huge fight that had just been broken up in the McDonalds that I wanted to go to so I had to settle for Hungry Jacks, which is not up to BK's high standard. Darn.

Peak: When I got to the train station to go home, the gates to one of the entrances was locked. These youths appeared out of nowhere and started jumping the fence so I followed in a slightly drunken state. Nek minit... security guard is running down after us. I casually slip off to the side and up to a random platform. Thankfully, the guard chose to go for the group of them running away rather than get me - I would've been the easy option!

Pit: Waiting 40 minutes in the cold
