Day 25: Key

I spent the majority of the day doodling around on my new keyboard. I hooked it up to Ableton Live and I'm having trouble getting my head around the whole thing. I tried to work it with Logic and I'm having a few issues with that too with trying to assign some of the key commands. Ironically, some of it is a little bit illogical. It's been a day of trolling through forums and junk to try find my answer. I'm definitely excited at the prospect of figuring it all out though. Once I do, I think it will open up a whole new world of possibilities, mainly in live performance.

My thinking is that to be noticed, I'm going to have to have a point of difference - something that sets me apart (not alienating) that will draw people in. This is a good way to do that, I think. It's also something I've always wanted to be able to do as I see it as a way forward. Also, I want to meet lots of other musicians - but I want to meet 'good' ones. The best way I've thought of to do that, in the position that I'm in now (where I have no reputation and no musical friends) is to show people what I can do. It'll be a lot easier and put me in a better position to meet people than to walk up to someone I see perform at a bar and try to start a conversation.

I had a cocktail party to go to tonight but I ended up passing that up. I was too into this whole keyboard thing. I also didn't want to travel an hour on public transport to get there. And then I wouldn't know how to get back either. On hindsight though, maybe I should've gone. It would've been a pretty fantastic chance to meet a whole heap of people and also build on the introductions of Wednesday night.

Peak: Getting into the keyboard stuff
Pit: Getting stuck on the keyboard stuff
