Day 23: Boring day, fun night

Marc texted me today saying he was going to a comedy night in town with a few friends and that I should come along. Marc is the French-Canadian musician I met whilst house hunting a couple days ago.
So, I took Kate along and the venue turned out to be not too far from where we're staying.

They were already there when we arrived. There were new faces to meet. Most of them were also foreigners. There were four Germans, two of them were just visiting the other two who have permanent residence. It was a fun and relaxed atmosphere and we joked around and had good conversation over a few drinks. Flip, the price of alcohol here is very expensive. We didn't even end up going into the comedy night. They had thought it was $5 and it turned out to be $12 and the German visitors thought they'd only be able to understand half of it anyway so they decided they'd rather spend the money on alcohol. We didn't really mind.

It was heaps of fun being in the company of new people. It feels like it's been ages since I've been out to a bar or something. It was probably the first time since my leaving gig back in Auckland. The girls got along with everyone really easily too. Now they're gutted to be missing out on the cocktail party on Saturday because they both have to work.

Alice Courtenay joined us after her work shift and when we eventually called it a night I cooked noodles for them when we got home. Alice cooks her noodles in an unconventional manner. I just call it the 'white' way. But they're Korean noodles. So I showed her how it's done.

I'm going to 'audition,' for the girl I made the Blackbird video, tomorrow. I'm seeing her at two o'clock and she messaged me the address and said, "See you a couple minutes before two." I guess that means she doesn't want me to be late.

Peak: People chills
Pit: Another fruitless search online for jobs. I might have to start applying for these other 'proper' long-term contract jobs
