Day 21: Friends!

Today was a day of making some friends.

I went to view another flat in Yarraville. I went knowing that I was probably not going to take the place as I had decided to live with my family already. But, the guy in the ad mentioned how he was a musician and he had lots of gear so I pretty much went to meet him.

He turned out to be a pretty cool guy. He's a bit older, French-Canadian called Marc and he's been in Melbourne for a year and a half. He's looking to make a band so we're going to have a jam sometime. He looks like he knows what he's doing too and not just 'one-of-those-people.' He had lots of cool gear and a sweet set up at his house. I would've loved to have taken the place but it's unfurnished and quite difficult to get to via public transport. There happened to be another guy there looking at the place at the same time. His name is Michael and he's an Aussie. I let them know that I probably couldn't take the place and so it wasn't awkward between us as there was no competition. He was also a really nice guy and he mentioned how some of his friends are musicians who play regular gigs. We traded numbers. I also got invited to a cocktail party that Marc is hosting this Saturday. Exciting!

I met up with Hugh later in the day. We went out to the Fitzroy area for a snoop around. It turns out there are butt-loads of music shops there so we spent most of our time looking in them. I bought Cee Lo Green's latest album for just $10 at a second hand store. Score!

On our way back there was a guy waiting at the tram stop with a big boxed amp. It looked like he'd made a new purchase. Hugh being the silly man he is sat on the box thinking it was a random box when it was clear that it belonged to the guy. It turned out to be a good ice breaker though as I questioned him about his purchase as I thought he must be a musician. That turned out to be right and he'd bought it for busking purposes. We got chatting and had a nice conversation on the tram. His name is Ozzie and he's an Aussie.

All in all, a great day. Finally, I've met some locals!

Peak: Seeing Hugh's anxiety when we were getting a free tram ride. And then his pride afterwards at having gotten away with it
Pit: Having to wait for Hugh to be done looking in a hardcore store lolz
