Day 24: Audition

I took the train to the location of the 'audition.' I got there ten minutes early! A tick in the girl's book, I'm sure.

The girl's name is Molina Musique (I'm pretty sure that's a stage name). She's a singer who's signed to a British label and she's on the lookout for a guitarist. I think I did a good job. She seemed impressed at the fact that I wasn't intimidated by her intenseness and had opinions and ideas to make things 'better.' She even said herself, "I'm hard to work with..." I'd gathered that from the messages we've been trading but I think I'm OK with that just as long as I'm respected and it's not unreasonable. I probably shouldn't say too much on here.
Anyway, she mentioned maybe going to the UK sometime in the year all expenses paid for. That sounds pretty good and IF it happened it'd be the precise example of why I don't want to take a contract job. But we'll see - experience has taught me not to expect too much from things like this. But it'll be enjoyable nonetheless I think.

She's asked me back for a second audition, which is paid. That must be a good sign, right? It'd be cool if I get the part. It'll give me some purpose in being in Melbourne. By no means would I be heartbroken if I was to miss out though.

I found this store online the other day that sold midi controllers for a lot cheaper than other stores. So, on the way home I went to check it out. It was a nice journey there as I had to take the train, then tram and then walk. Bless my iPhone. It has been such a lifesaver the last couple of weeks.

I ended up going home with a new Axiom 61. I've been after a midi controller for a while and the reviews on it seems to be quite good and it was on special so it seemed like a good deal. I think the keyboard is definitely sufficient - I just need to build my chops on Logic and Ableton Live now to maximise its functionality.

Peak: Massive night of T.V. watching tonight with Alice Courtenay. She had a rare night off work so we watched Blue Crush that was airing on T.V. whilst flicking back and forth between the cricket. Then the movie ended and we caught the last 10 overs of the cricket and it went right down to the wire with Sri Lanka triumphing over Australia. Great result.
Pit: Bought a katsu-don for dinner tonight and it was less than satisfactory.
