Day 3: Hi Alice!

I woke up at 11am. What a waste of time! If anything, I should be getting up earlier than usual because of the time difference.

The decent chunk of the day was spent at the library again today. It took me a while to try to sort out my flight. In the end it came down to this: I called up the airline and they said it’d cost me $80 to change. I almost swore at the lady on the phone. The flight cost $72! Then I tried to change it online and it said it’d cost $54 to change the flight. Now I wished that I did swear at the lady on the phone.

I contemplated whether or not it was worth it. I was thinking at the time it would be worth it ‘cos I’d have to pay accommodation and food for the extra time I’d be there which would be close to $50 anyway but I couldn’t make the change because my bank account had $0.00 in it. So, I went to the bank and got all that crap sorted. I transferred money from my NZ account over here and it also turned out that they hadn’t taken the hold off my account when I went to see them the first time.

By now I was chilling on my own ‘cos the girls had gone to work again. I had my first experience of finding my way around on public transport, alone. I did a good job. Well done, Phil!

Alice Bresnahan got back from her trip to Sydney today so I met up with her and her two friends (also girls) for dinner. It was so nice to catch up like old times. Alice is fun to hassle ‘cos she takes it well. I move in to her flat tomorrow morning. Pretty excited to have an actual place instead of sharing a room with 10 other people!

I chose to walk all the way back to backpackers even though it was on the other side of town. On the way I passed quite a few buskers, one of which gave me lots of ideas and inspiration. It wasn’t because she was good (she was, but she wasn’t, if you get what I mean) but it triggered many thoughts in my brain. The thoughts continued and by the end I somehow concluded that I would not change the date of my flight back from Brisbane because I enjoyed my walk alone so much. Shit, did that just happen?

Thought for the day: I’ve convinced myself a number of times to upsize whatever meal I’ve ordered and every time I’ve regretted it. Time to stop doing that.d
