Day 16: Back home

I had to wake up at 5am to catch the shuttle to the airport. I was awake but I wasn't awake.

When I got to the airport I was faced with the problem of luggage. My ticket didn't include a check-in bag so I had a 10kg allowance in 2 bags - and the bags couldn't exceed 7kg. I went to check in and the guy at the counter was a douche. My main bag was 8kgs and said I'd have to pay another $70 - that's the price of my original ticket!
I went off to the side and spent ages sorting my stuff. I got my main bag down to 7kg EXACT and put the rest of my stuff in a plastic bag. Problem was that the second bag was now about 5kgs.

Now, I know you're not meant to leave things unattended in airports 'cos people think it's a bomb but I couldn't pay the tiger airways douche an extra $70. So, I found the least busy toilet, went to the furthest cubicle and chucked out a few items on the window sill - a blanket and 2 jackets. I layed it out in the least bomb-like fashion possible.

I took a gamble as! But it paid off. Shame tiger airways, you guys suck. I checked in and raced back to the toilet and stuffed my gear back into my big bag.

I slept through the entire flight back. I was so happy when I arrived at the apartment. Two weeks with no place to call 'home' and finally I had a place where I could lie down and relax.

I met up with my Dad for dinner. He arrived in Melbourne a couple days ago. He's looking for a place and everything. It's real. My family is moving to Melbourne! We also had a family friend join us for dinner. Her name is Hyun Ju. She's from Korea and she's been studying english in New Zealand for a while and is now on her way back home but travelling around Australia first.

It was great to have my meal paid for.

Peak: Coming 'home'
Pit: Being tired
