"Oh yeah"

Here are some things that have made me go "Ohhh yeeeeeah" since being in Korea. "Oh yeah" as in the noise you make when you're reminded of something you know?

- The traffic lights are horizontal, not vertical like NZ
- The smell in alleyways
- The tackyness and cheesyness that Koreans love
- Awkward acting in dramas that work only in the Korean context
- Glorious food
- Everyone drives nice black, white or grey cars
- Everyone dresses well
- Population density
- People's way of being nice and welcoming of you after they haven't seen you for ages is to offer endless food
- The default water level in the toilets is much higher
- Heated toilet seats and bidets that wash your bum for you
- Korean girls are very good and clever with their makeup
- People that sell really cheap stuff on subways (illegally)
- Pedestrian traffic light is green for ages and then it blinks on green instead of red and then it goes straight to red
- There are barely any overweight people
- Smoking indoors (driving me nuts)

There's more but can't think of them at the moment. Will update if I feel the need to.

Shall I compare you to a Samos day - data attained, analysed, authenticated the world over? This child was told 27 years to share food. He did good, read books, but never learned to split bread - spat back at what mum said. Never thought it was selfish 'cos, 'If I bought it and I ordered, then it should be as I wished.' Of course, there were times that I chose to be nice, remorse for the untouched vegetable sides. But inside my mind was a shallow road block. A dam full with still rules withers and rots. Distilled water needed to release the hold, in the form of cabin dwellers hosting NGOs -  made kindness mean money. Now I see my flaws. Tap water, a comb, a blunted shaver. The barber's cape - a poncho pullover. Vigilant flicks adding spritzes of flavour... only to follow with a 'see ya later...' The gap in the teeth is seen in the absurd.
