Christmas and stuffs

We don't really celebrate Christmas in our family (for unknown reasons) so correct me if I'm wrong, but Christmas time is family time in NZ.

In Korea, Christmas is all about couples, lovers, boyfs, girlfs etc. So, this may sound truly bizarre to some of you, five of us single boys went clubbing on Christmas eve. We went to this well-known, biiiig place in a young-people hotspot area called Gangnam.

So here's the thing about going out partying in Korea. The subway and buses run only 'til around midnight. After that, you'll have to catch a taxi to get around (unless you get someone to pick you up). On busy nights, such as Christmas eve, the taxis only take you if you're going to make a long trip because they want more money. So, you're going to have to stay out 'til 6am when the subway starts up again.

Christmas eve was no exception. Bryan and I made our way back to his house at around 6.30am. The Sun was on its way up when we got home. It's not illegal to smoke indoors in Korea. I am SO THANKFUL that's not the case in NZ because everytime you go out, you come home absolutely stinking of smoke, and I never even touched one! All your clothes just reek, from your jacket through to your undies. It's driving me mad.

Anyhow, we got up at 4.30pm. My body was destroyed. It was Sunday and Bryan made plans to go out again - his fourth night out in a row. Ludicrous, if you ask me. Three nights in a row was more than enough for me and I stayed alone at his house while he went out. I got hungry and ordered some spicy chicken to be delivered at 11pm (great thing about Korea is that everything is always open). So there I was on Christmas Day, alone at Bryan's house munching on some chicken while watching 'Bridesmaids.' It was a little sad but I saw the funny side of it.

I went to sleep after the movie but was rudely awakened at 3.30am to a terribly upset stomach. I knew it was indigestion as. I held out for as long as I could, trying to keep it all in but inevitably I lost the battle, hurling all that chicken I'd eaten earlier in the toilet out of the wrong end as to what the toilet is usually used for. What a waste!

I've been feeling so crap all day. I've pretty much been bed-ridden trying to sleep it off apart from the hour-long subway ride to get from Bryan's to my Auntie's, where I'm based. I really hope I'm feeling better tomorrow because me not being in the best condition is making me feel a little home-sick =(
